New Year, New You

Today is the last day of 2014, and what a year it has been! Our year was full of fun, adventure, and exciting news. We visited Hawaii and California for the first time together, we had some engaging adventures in the land of the midnight sun (Alaska), and we learned that we were expecting our first bundle of happiness (Baby Boy!) in 2015.

Not to say the year wasn't full of challenges. We felt the Seasonal Affective Depressive Disorder (SADD) that Alaska can bring, we tried out some difficult online schooling (for the hubby), and we fought through weeks and weeks of pregnancy sickness (I didn't leave the house for 6 whole weeks! Boo!).

As I look back on our year, I can honestly say that we felt, we laughed, we cried, and we lived. I'm glad to be alive in this unprecedented time.

Just recently we saw The Imitation Game in theaters. As I watched, I thought of the astounding differences between their 1939 and our 2014. Only a period of 75 years, and yet it seems like a completely different world. Only 75 years ago, the world did not have computers, they didn't have social media, cell phones, or ipods. For better or for worse, their lives seem a world away from ours. And yet, the most important things have remained constants. These are the things that I have been working to refocus in my life. Hard work, integrity, friendship, quality time with the people you care about, and health, among other things. I didn't want to wait until 2015 to start, so I've already been reprioritizing, goal setting, and doing. Everyday is a new chance to become more of yourself, to decide who you want to be, and to make it happen.

Yes, we've had a great year, and we are looking forward to an even more exciting one in 2015. Each year, a better year. Each day a better day. As a part of my goals for this coming year, I'm starting a blog (Yes, this is the blog! You've found it!). I'm passionate about living, about health, happiness, nutrition, fitness, fashion, beauty, and laughter. This blog will be full of those things. I already have recipes, diy's, product reviews, and meditative deep-thought posts planned. Is there something you would like to see me test, do-myself, or talk about? Let me know! Please come, visit, leave comments, and join the circle!
